マタイ Matthew 18:21-35
マタイ18:21そのとき、ペテロがみもとに来て言った。「主よ。兄弟が私に対して罪を犯した場合、何度まで赦すべきでしょうか。七度まででしょうか。」
Matt. 18:21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?”
22 イエスは言われた。「七度まで、などとはわたしは言いません。七度を七十倍するまでと言います。
22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
23 このことから、天の御国は、地上の王にたとえることができます。王はそのしもべたちと清算をしたいと思った。
23 “Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.
24 清算が始まると、まず一万タラントの借りのあるしもべが、王のところに連れて来られた。
24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him.
25 しかし、彼は返済することができなかったので、その主人は彼に、自分も妻子も持ち物全部も売って返済するように命じた。
25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.
26 それで、このしもべは、主人の前にひれ伏して、『どうかご猶予ください。そうすれば全部お払いいたします』と言った。
26 “The servant fell on his knees before him. `Be patient with me,’ he begged, `and I will pay back everything.’
27 しもべの主人は、かわいそうに思って、彼を赦し、借金を免除してやった。
27 The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.
28 ところが、そのしもべは、出て行くと、同じしもべ仲間で、彼から百デナリの借りのある者に出会った。彼はその人をつかまえ、首を絞めて、『借金を返せ』と言った。
28 “But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him. `Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded.
29 彼の仲間は、ひれ伏して、『もう少し待ってくれ。そうしたら返すから』と言って頼んだ。
29 “His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, `Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.’
30 しかし彼は承知せず、連れて行って、借金を返すまで牢に投げ入れた。
30 “But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt.
31 彼の仲間たちは事の成り行きを見て、非常に悲しみ、行って、その一部始終を主人に話した。
31 When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened.
32 そこで、主人は彼を呼びつけて言った。『悪いやつだ。おまえがあんなに頼んだからこそ借金全部を赦してやったのだ。
32 “Then the master called the servant in. `You wicked servant,’ he said, `I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to.
33 私がおまえをあわれんでやったように、おまえも仲間をあわれんでやるべきではないか。』
33 Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’
34 こうして、主人は怒って、借金を全部返すまで、彼を獄吏に引き渡した。
34 In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.
35 あなたがたもそれぞれ、心から兄弟を赦さないなら、天のわたしの父も、あなたがたに、このようになさるのです。」
35 “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.”
