ルカ Luke 2:1-20
ルカ2:1そのころ、全世界の住民登録をせよという勅令が、皇帝アウグストから出た。
Luke2:1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.
2 これは、クレニオがシリヤの総督であったときの最初の住民登録であった。
2 (This was the first census that took place while Quiriniuswas governor of Syria.)
3 それで、人々はみな、登録のために、それぞれ自分の町に向かって行った。
3 And everyone went to his own town to register.
4 ヨセフもガリラヤの町ナザレから、ユダヤのベツレヘムというダビデの町へ上って行った。彼は、ダビデの家系であり血筋でもあったので、
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.
5 身重になっているいいなずけの妻マリヤもいっしょに登録するためであった。
5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
6ところが、 彼らがそこにいる間に、 マリヤは月が満ちて、
6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
7男子の初子を産んだ。 それで、 布にくるんで、 飼葉おけに寝かせた。 宿屋には彼らのいる場所がなかったからである。
7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 さて、 この土地に、 羊飼いたちが、 野宿で夜番をしながら羊の群れを見守っていた。
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
9すると、 主の使いが彼らのところに来て、 主の栄光が回りを照らしたので、 彼らはひどく恐れた。
9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
10御使いは彼らに言った。 「恐れることはありません。 今、 私はこの民全体のためのすばらしい喜びを知らせに来たのです。
10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
11きょうダビデの町で、 あなたがたのために、 救い主がお生まれになりました。 この方こそ主キリストです。
11 Today in the town of David a Saviorhas been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
12あなたがたは、 布にくるまって飼葉おけに寝ておられるみどりごを見つけます。 これが、 あなたがたのためのしるしです。 」
12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13すると、 たちまち、 その御使いといっしょに、 多くの天の軍勢が現れて、 神を賛美して言った。
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
地の上に、 平和が、御心にかなう人々にあるように。 」
14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favorrests.”
15御使いたちが彼らを離れて天に帰ったとき、 羊飼いたちは互いに話し合った。 「さあ、 ベツレヘムに行って、 主が私たちに知らせてくださったこの出来事を見て来よう。 」
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16そして急いで行って、 マリヤとヨセフと、 飼葉おけに寝ておられるみどりごとを捜し当てた。
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.
17それを見たとき、 羊飼いたちは、 この幼子について告げられたことを知らせた。
17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,
18それを聞いた人たちはみな、 羊飼いの話したことに驚いた。
18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
19しかしマリヤは、 これらのことをすべて心に納めて、 思いを巡らしていた。
19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
20羊飼いたちは、 見聞きしたことが、 全部御使いの話のとおりだったので、 神をあがめ、 賛美しながら帰って行った。
20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
