ヤコブ James 1:2-18

ヤコブ1:2 私の兄弟たち。さまざまな試練に会うときは、それをこの上もない喜びと思いなさい。

James 1:2     Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,a whenever you face trials of many kinds,

 

3 信仰がためされると忍耐が生じるということを、あなたがたは知っているからです。

3 because you know that the testing of your faitha produces perseverance.

 

4 その忍耐を完全に働かせなさい。そうすれば、あなたがたは、何一つ欠けたところのない、成長を遂げた、完全な者となります。

4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be maturea and complete, not lacking anything.

 

5   あなたがたの中に知恵の欠けた人がいるなら、その人は、だれにでも惜しげなく、とがめることなくお与えになる神に願いなさい。そうすればきっと与えられます。

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God,a who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.b

 

6 ただし、少しも疑わずに、信じて願いなさい。疑う人は、風に吹かれて揺れ動く、海の大波のようです。

6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt,a because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

 

7 そういう人は、主から何かをいただけると思ってはなりません。 8 そういうのは、二心のある人で、その歩む道のすべてに安定を欠いた人です。

7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-mindeda and unstableb in all they do.

 

9   貧しい境遇にある兄弟は、自分の高い身分を誇りとしなさい。

9     Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.a

 

10 富んでいる人は、自分が低くされることに誇りを持ちなさい。なぜなら、富んでいる人は、草の花のように過ぎ去って行くからです。

10 But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.a

 

11 太陽が熱風を伴って上って来ると、草を枯らしてしまいます。すると、その花は落ち、美しい姿は滅びます。同じように、富んでいる人も、働きの最中に消えて行くのです。

11 For the sun rises with scorching heata and withersb the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed.c In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.

 

12   試練に耐える人は幸いです。耐え抜いて良しと認められた人は、神を愛する者に約束された、いのちの冠を受けるからです。

12     Blessed is the one who perseveres under triala because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of lifeb that the Lord has promised to those who love him.c

 

13 だれでも誘惑に会ったとき、神によって誘惑された、と言ってはいけません。神は悪に誘惑されることのない方であり、ご自分でだれを誘惑なさることもありません。

13     When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

 

14 人はそれぞれ自分の欲に引かれ、おびき寄せられて、誘惑されるのです。 15 欲がはらむと罪を生み、罪が熟すると死を生みます。

14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their owna evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin;a and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.b

 

16 愛する兄弟たち。だまされないようにしなさい。 17 すべての良い贈り物、また、すべての完全な賜物は上から来るのであって、光を造られた父から下るのです。父には移り変わりや、移り行く影はありません。

16     Don’t be deceived,a my dear brothers and sisters.b 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above,a coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,b who does not changec like shifting shadows.

 

18 父はみこころのままに、真理のことばをもって私たちをお生みになりました。私たちを、いわば被造物の初穂にするためなのです。

18 He chose to give us birtha through the word of truth,b that we might be a kind of firstfruitsc of all he created.
