マタイ Matthew 1:18-25
マタイ1:18イエス・キリストの誕生は次のようであった。その母マリヤはヨセフの妻と決まっていたが、ふたりがまだいっしょにならないうちに、聖霊によって身重になったことがわかった。
Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child [w] from the Holy Spirit.
19 夫のヨセフは正しい人であって、彼女をさらし者にはしたくなかったので、内密に去らせようと決めた。
19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.
20 彼がこのことを思い巡らしていたとき主の使いが夢に現れて言った。「ダビデの子ヨセフ。恐れないであなたの妻マリヤを迎えなさい。その胎に宿っているものは聖霊によるのです。
20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
21 マリヤは男の子を産みます。その名をイエスとつけなさい。この方こそ、ご自分の民をその罪から救ってくださる方です。」
21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
22 このすべての出来事は、主が預言者を通して言われた事が成就するためであった。
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
23 「見よ、処女がみごもっている。そして男の子を産む。その名はインマヌエルと呼ばれる。」(訳すと、神は私たちとともにおられる、という意味である。)
23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name [e] Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
24 ヨセフは眠りからさめ、主の使いに命じられたとおりにして、その妻を迎え入れ、
24 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife,
25 そして、子どもが生まれるまで彼女を知ることがなく、その子どもの名をイエスとつけた。
25 but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
